Responsibilities
- Assist all Prosecution Units with summons processing, with a focus on Port Authority summonses.
- Appear on all summonses issued in connection with Port Authority’s airport enforcement of the regulations prohibiting impermissible solicitation.
- Prepare all case files associated with summonses issued by the Port Authority Police.
- Prepare Officer testimony, when necessary, as well as all complaints made by Airport Dispatchers.
- Afford supervision to attorneys assigned to the Port Authority cases.
- Provide continuous training and guidance to officers regarding issuing summonses with sufficient narratives to establish rule violations.
- Conduct micro trainings as required.
Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar.
- One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar; or six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
- To be assigned to Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates must have one year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment.
- To be assigned to AL III candidates must have two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment.
Pay
$83,000 after two (2) years of city employment: $95,450
