Job Details

Depending on qualifications and experience, candidates may be considered for the Property Standards Inspector, Property Standards Specialist, or Senior Property Standards Specialist classification.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to ensure compliance with City codes and ordinances
  • Conduct property inspections
  • Educate the public on property maintenance standards
  • Research complex cases
  • Support long-term neighborhood preservation efforts

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
  • Knowledge of local building and zoning codes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Some college coursework in construction, architecture, or related field preferred

Pay

The target hourly rate for the Property Standards Inspector is between $25.21 - $31.51; depending on qualifications.
The target hourly rate for the Property Standards Specialist is between $26.47 - $33.09; depending on qualifications.
The target hourly rate for the Senior Property Standards Specialist is between $29.18 - $36.48; depending on qualifications.

Schedule

  • Three (3) shifts available: 7:30 – 4:30, 8:00 – 5:00, 8:30 – 5:30
  • New employees are required to work the trainer’s schedule during training.
  • Coveted shifts are primarily offered to tenured staff first.
  • Required to work six Saturdays a year.
  • Staff will flex their schedules during “Saturday Sweeps” week and work either a ½-day or a full day on Saturday.
  • Required to perform periodic after-hour inspections to observe violations that occur outside of normal business hours.
