Job Details
Depending on qualifications and experience, candidates may be considered for the Property Standards Inspector, Property Standards Specialist, or Senior Property Standards Specialist classification.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to ensure compliance with City codes and ordinances
- Conduct property inspections
- Educate the public on property maintenance standards
- Research complex cases
- Support long-term neighborhood preservation efforts
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
- Knowledge of local building and zoning codes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Some college coursework in construction, architecture, or related field preferred
Skills

Pay
The target hourly rate for the Property Standards Inspector is between $25.21 - $31.51; depending on qualifications.
The target hourly rate for the Property Standards Specialist is between $26.47 - $33.09; depending on qualifications.
The target hourly rate for the Senior Property Standards Specialist is between $29.18 - $36.48; depending on qualifications.
Schedule
- Three (3) shifts available: 7:30 – 4:30, 8:00 – 5:00, 8:30 – 5:30
- New employees are required to work the trainer’s schedule during training.
- Coveted shifts are primarily offered to tenured staff first.
- Required to work six Saturdays a year.
- Staff will flex their schedules during “Saturday Sweeps” week and work either a ½-day or a full day on Saturday.
- Required to perform periodic after-hour inspections to observe violations that occur outside of normal business hours.
