Building Inspector or Senior Building Inspector
About the role
The City of Plano's Building Inspections Department seeks a building inspector to join their team. A State of Texas Plumbing Inspectors license is preferred but not required. This position offers the chance to be part of an ICC-accredited Building Inspection department dedicated to providing excellent service to Plano residents. The city is home to major corporations like Toyota, Liberty Mutual, and Pizza Hut.
Responsibilities
- Inspect various types of construction projects to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
- Issue permits and resolve violations related to building codes and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, developers, and property owners regarding inspection findings and requirements.
- Work from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call duties for emergencies.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience in building inspections or related field.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Qualifications
- Experience with computer software used in the construction industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures.

Pay
Hourly salary range: $25.21 - $37.82
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with occasional on-call duties for emergencies.
