The Opportunity
The Property & Casualty Claims Advocate facilitates interactions between clients and carriers regarding property & casualty issues, including claim reviews and ongoing issues. They also assist in TPA and insurance carrier selections, address client concerns, and negotiate claim resolutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares and presents claim reviews to clients periodically.
- Selects and works with Third Party Administrators (TPAs) and insurance carriers.
- Communicates with clients via phone and in person to gather and provide information.
- Negotiates plans of action and reserves reductions with insurers.
- Aids producers in conducting claims with clients and carriers.
- Analyzes loss history to suggest risk reduction strategies.
- Maintains accurate claim files and updates HUB computer systems.
- Stays informed about insurance industry changes and applies them to client needs.
- Attends industry-related continuing education training and courses.
- Accesses and utilizes online systems for claims.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
- 2-3 years property & casualty claims adjustment experience (brokerage preferred) or equivalent combination of education & experience
- Property & Casualty License required or willingness to obtain within 3 months
- Confidence and demeanor to interact with all levels within the organization
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and agency management systems
- Problem-solving ability to identify and resolve complex problems
- Critical thinking to prioritize and organize tasks
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
- Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Primarily stationary position for the majority of the workday
- Frequent communication with colleagues and clients in person and on the telephone
- Constantly operates computers and other office equipment
- Sometimes moves about inside the office to access file cabinets and machinery
