About the role
As a Project Manager II with Graycor Construction Company, you will drive successful project results from preconstruction through final closeout, ensuring the safest manner possible while maintaining the highest quality standards. The role primarily focuses on commercial and light industrial markets, including large distribution centers and general manufacturing projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all safety compliance and quality programs are executed on the project site.
- Actively participate in bidding and pre-construction services.
- Represent Graycor as the client’s primary contact, communicating openly and confidently with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to establish trust and rapport.
- Manage the performance of professional support personnel on the project site, including Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, Field Superintendents, and administrative staff.
- Maintain strict control over the budget and schedule to ensure ongoing profitability.
- Execute subcontracts and purchase orders, approve subcontractor invoices and change requests, and negotiate contract changes with the client.
- Complete close-out requirements for projects and collect final payment.
- Mentor and train Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers to support their career growth and development.
- Implement new ideas and actively participate in company initiatives, including Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement Programs, Lean Construction, and Zero Punch Lists.
Requirements
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant construction operations experience, with experience managing distribution center and/or light industrial manufacturing construction projects.
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate teams, delegate tasks, and present proposals to clients with confidence.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in constructing critical path project schedules using scheduling software (Primavera v6).
