Project Manager, Buildings & Places Federal

About the Role

GFT is seeking a Project Manager for our Buildings + Places Federal Market. This position manages all aspects of project execution including budget, scope, and schedule while leading the project delivery team. As the primary point of contact for client engagement, you will provide excellent customer service and assist with identifying new federal business opportunities, leading project-level proposal development. The role can be remote and involves leading multi-disciplinary teams of architects and engineers through the full project lifecycle—from inception to completion.

You will engage from opportunity identification, lead proposal development and negotiations, form and lead your project delivery team (PDT) through design and execution, and manage projects through construction completion to close out. Projects serve federal clients such as DoW/DoD (USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, etc.), DHS (USCG, US Secret Service, CBP, etc.), and other federal agencies, spanning Engineering Studies, Facility Condition Assessments, Design-Bid-Build, and Design-Build construction delivery methods.

This role is critical to project execution and leadership within our organization. You will develop client relationships, drive exceptional customer service, and contribute to GFT’s growth and improvement. The position offers long-term career development opportunities, whether continuing along the Project Management path toward Program Management or exploring other leadership roles.

The work location is flexible, including remote options. Travel is required for project execution, business development, networking events, in-person office visits, and training.

Responsibilities

• Drive project execution and lead multi-disciplinary PDTs of architects and engineers.
• Translate client project scope into actionable PDT tasks and ensure scope compliance, including managing changes and approvals.
• Identify and schedule project deliverables to ensure on-time delivery.
• Perform project-level financial management and reporting.
• Implement the GFT Quality Management system, ensuring deliverables are reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
• Develop project fee and scope proposals in coordination with discipline leads, lead fee negotiations, ensure proper documentation, and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Establish and nurture strategic business partnerships and customer relationships.
• Maintain active membership and engagement in professional societies such as SAME, ACEC, DBIA, and AIA.
• Deliver GFT capability presentations to prospective or current clients.
• Identify new federal market sector opportunities and potential clients.
• Identify teaming opportunities and develop relationships with industry partners.
• Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
• Meet deadlines with short turnaround times while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Work independently and collaboratively, both in-person and virtually.

Requirements

• Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license; a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification may substitute.
• 10 years of federal experience in design and construction, including knowledge of IDIQ, MATOC, SATOC, task order, or stand-alone contract vehicles for federal clients or the AEC industry serving federal clients.
• Familiarity with Federal/DoW building programs and contract acquisitions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clients and staff on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Organized with a positive team-building spirit and a collaborative attitude.
• Ability to maintain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $175,000, dependent upon experience and geographic location.
