Project Manager, Buildings & Places Federal

About the Role

GFT is seeking a Project Manager for our Buildings + Places Federal Market. This position manages all aspects of project execution including budget, scope, and schedule while leading the project delivery team. As the primary point of contact for client engagement, you will provide excellent customer service and assist with identifying new federal business opportunities, leading project-level proposal development. This role can be remote and involves leading multi-disciplinary teams of architects and engineers through the full project lifecycle from inception to completion.

You will work with federal clients such as DoW/DoD (USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, etc.), DHS (USCG, US Secret Service, CBP, etc.), and other federal agencies on projects ranging from Engineering Studies and Facility Condition Assessments to Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build construction delivery methods. This role is critical to project execution, relationship-building, and contributing to GFT’s legacy of exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Drive project execution and lead multi-disciplinary project delivery teams (PDTs) of architects and engineers.
• Translate client project scope into PDT actions and ensure scope compliance, including managing changes and approvals.
• Identify and schedule project deliverables for on-time delivery.
• Perform project-level financial management and reporting.
• Implement the GFT Quality Management system, ensuring deliverables are reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
• Develop project fee and scope proposals in coordination with discipline leads, lead fee negotiations, and ensure proper documentation.
• Establish and nurture strategic business partnerships and customer relationships.
• Maintain active engagement with professional societies such as SAME, ACEC, DBIA, and AIA.
• Make GFT capability presentations to prospective or current clients.
• Identify new federal market sector opportunities and potential future customers.
• Develop teaming relationships with industry partners.
• Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
• Meet deadlines with short turnaround times while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Work independently and collaboratively, both in-person and virtually.
• Act as an active listener and effective communicator, handling feedback and conflict constructively.
• Solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
• Travel to federal and military sites, client Industry Days, networking events, and in-person office visits.

Requirements

• Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license; PMP certification may be considered in lieu of PE/RA.
• 10 years of federal experience in design and construction, including knowledge of IDIQ, MATOC, SATOC, task order, or stand-alone contract vehicles.
• Familiarity with Federal/DoW building programs and contract acquisitions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clients and staff on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Organized with a positive team-building spirit and a collaborative attitude.
• Ability to maintain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $175,000, dependent upon experience and geographic location.

Schedule

Full-time position with core business hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Travel is required for project execution, business development, networking events, office visits, and training.
