Project Management Senior Manager
About the role
This role involves managing, organizing, and successfully completing multiple divisional/department projects within the organization. Responsibilities include delivering and continuously improving services through the development, maintenance, and advancement of policies, processes, and capabilities related to strategic initiatives. Analyzing data to provide insights for upper-level management to make important business decisions that enhance the organization's profitability.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and improve services through the development, maintenance, and advancement of policies, processes, and capabilities related to strategic initiatives.
- Analyze data to provide insights for upper-level management to make important business decisions.
- Advise teams and guide project teams in the development of new programs, tools, systems, and processes to optimize business strategies and organizational goals.
- Communicate complex data insights to stakeholders while monitoring team’s work to ensure quality and effectiveness of data analysis to meet project goals.
- Develop and implement PMO processes and policies, direct project management staff, and work with other department leaders to continually refine project processes.
- Oversee and guide project management staff by developing or modifying work plans, assigning and distributing work, providing work instruction, and resolving problems encountered during day-to-day activities.
- Develop and maintain formal performance metrics for tracking project performance.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards, and meet customer expectations.
- Assess overall quality of project management deliverables of the projects.
- Direct and oversee team to ensure programs and projects meet organization goals and requirements as well as intended benefits.
- Maintain an efficiently sized, high-functioning project management team to service a diverse range of project types.
- Manage career development, performance management, and the performance review process for Program/Project Managers.
- Oversight and management of department budget as well as bi-weekly forecasts.
- Develop relationships with and ensure appropriate participation of key stakeholders and executives related to projects under the direction of the Project Office.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree/equivalent in Business, Computer Science, Accounting/Finance, MIS or directly related discipline.
- 8-10 years experience in project/program management, product development, systems design/development or business/financial planning and analysis.
- Experience in planning major projects including development of project proposals, business cases, schedules and financial justification.
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
- Knowledge and application of QDM practices/principles.
- Relevant experience in a multi-customer logistics environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively at multiple levels, demonstrate self-confidence, strong relationship building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to listen to and understand the needs of different groups, make persuasive presentations, inspire employees, effectively negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders, sell ideas, influence others, and lead change.
- Collaboration, flexibility, relationship building, and consensus building are key for this position.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to convey information clearly, accurately, and timely in consideration of audience and medium.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite required.
- Strong organizational and critical thinking skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
- Strong team player.
