About the role

LJA is offering an exciting opportunity that will allow you to reach your full career potential as a Project Engineer in Land Development. You will serve as a fully competent engineer responsible for applying conventional engineering principles to water and wastewater plant design. This role involves design calculations, plan and specification preparation, agency coordination, and supporting projects ranging from defined scopes to major phases of larger, more complex efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and design municipal wastewater treatment and water treatment and distribution systems
  • Develop calculations, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for water and wastewater facilities
  • Conceptualize the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project or lead engineering work for projects of limited scope
  • Coordinate with internal clients to gather required information and ensure project alignment
  • Schedule and coordinate engineering tasks while addressing complex or conflicting design requirements
  • Exercise independent judgment to adapt and modify standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to less experienced engineers and technical support staff
  • Support project management efforts and contribute to successful project delivery

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (required)
  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
  • Experience with water and wastewater plant design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience exercising independent judgment in engineering design and problem solving

Preferred Qualifications

  • Water distribution modeling experience
  • Previous project management experience
  • Familiarity with North Texas
