Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater

About the role

The Water/Wastewater Project Engineer will work closely with project managers and other team members in performing preliminary engineering evaluations, design, and construction services on a variety of municipal engineering projects improving water and wastewater infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and costs estimates for water and wastewater projects
• Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water and wastewater systems
• Preparation and review of technical memoranda, engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents
• Direct and assist with the development of project staff and collaboration with subconsultants
• Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
• Support field testing and investigations
• Manage construction projects with office engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, change orders, site visits and coordination with inspection personnel)
• Provide construction inspection and administration of water/wastewater pipeline, pumping, storage and treatment facility construction projects
• Communicate effectively and coordinate with clients, project teams including other engineering disciplines, designers and subconsultants

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
• Engineering in Training Certificate
• 4+ years of increasingly responsible, project experience in the study, design, and construction administration and inspection of water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure (pipelines, pump stations, treatment)

Skills and Abilities

• A self-starter, versatile and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting the Water and Wastewater Group
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills
• A solution minded individual with an appetite for problem solving
• Demonstrated proficiency in the documentation, organization and presentation of project data
• Proficiency with Microsoft Professional Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and REVIT
