Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering layouts, drawings, design support and upgrades for water, wastewater utility systems, including pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities
- Conduct feasibility studies, evaluate capacity, and review CCN (Certificate of Convenience and Necessity) coverage to determine project viability
- Perform engineering calculations for water, wastewater systems including hydraulic flow, pipe sizing, pressures, and system demands
- Coverage of site visits and construction observations to verify compliance with design, safety, and regulatory standards
- Document field conditions, test results, and as-built information
- Lead project schedules, scopes, and budgets, while serving as a technical subject matter expert
- Read and interpret construction documents, site plans, and permits in compliance with regulatory standards
- Prepare technical reports, meeting notes, project status to provide authoritative recommendations and updates for leadership
- Review shop drawings, RFIs (Request for Information), and field change orders for water and wastewater projects
- Coverage of coordination with developers, contractors, project managers, and engineers to ensure timely delivery of design information and resolve technical conflicts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, mechanical engineering or related field required
- 3-8 years of engineering experience in water, wastewater, land development, or municipal infrastructure required
- Project site visits required; Projects can vary location based on project needs within utility the service area
- EIT (Engineer in Training) certification preferred
- OSHA 10 training preferred
- Knowledge of water distribution, wastewater collection, utility system design, including hydraulic flow analysis and regulatory requirements
- Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles and utility infrastructure design
- Proven ability to evaluate utility service availability, cost estimating, and managing construction-related changes
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with hydraulic modeling software and project management tools a plus
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory documents
- Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to provide technical guidance
Pay
Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year
Schedule
Onsite 3-4 days per week in the field and office in Phoenix, AZ
Travel
Up to 80% travel to various project sites in Phoenix, AZ
