Project Engineer -Large Load
Role Overview
This role is responsible for performing and overseeing engineering assignments on large-scale energy projects. The position involves managing all technical aspects from due diligence through completion, including project management, negotiations, and performance tracking. The successful candidate will make decisions with significant impact on major engineering activities, resolve complex technical issues, and coordinate both internal and external engineering support to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level oversight of engineering and project execution, influencing executive-level decisions.
- Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards and optimizing technical designs for energy infrastructure.
- Act as the technical authority on engineering standards, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage external engineering resources and deliverables while coordinating internal engineering and SME support.
- Guide engineering strategies, solve complex challenges, and ensure long-term infrastructure resilience.
- Perform technical analysis and engineering oversight with a focus on utility-scale solar, BESS, wind, and hydrogen systems.
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, safety standards, and long-term performance goals.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, or a related discipline).
- Experience: 15+ years of experience in planning, designing, and executing large-scale energy projects, including solar, BESS, wind, and hydrogen systems.
- Technical Skills: Advanced experience in system integration, grid optimization, and risk management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (PE) certification.
- Engineering and project management experience supporting infrastructure, power, or mission-critical projects.
- Background in data centers or power delivery.
- Experience managing both internal and external engineering resources on projects.
Work Environment
Some travel is required for this position. Driving will be required as part of the position duties. The supplier must hold validation of a non-restricted current driver's license, with no alcohol/drug-related driving offenses within the previous five years, and the license must not be currently suspended or restricted.
