About the role

The Project Accounting Manager position at Grand Canyon Conservancy supports the implementation of high-quality projects that benefit Grand Canyon National Park. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role oversees all financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Duties vary with the workload and could include collaborating with project managers to create project budgets, forecasting project spending, and monitoring cash flow.
  • Track project costs, analyze variances against budgets, and identify potential risks.
  • Prepare annual estimates of project expenditures for the upcoming year to be included in the annual budget.
  • Develop, monitor, and regularly update cash flow forecasts at the project-level and consolidated level.
  • Support the Park Projects Manager and Projects and Contracts Specialist with vendor and third-party relationships, including contracting, compliance, bids, internal approvals, and financial monitoring.
  • Transition project-level accounting reports from Excel spreadsheets into the NetSuite system.
  • Initiate projects within the accounting system and utilize the system's fund, project, and grant reporting mechanisms to account for and report on all project activities.
  • Review and submit invoices, ensuring that supporting documentation is appropriate and complete.
  • Ensure proper coding for project expenses in accordance with both GCC policies and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Participate in the annual audit process by providing reports and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings and serve as the primary resource for all financial matters relating to GCC and Park projects.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of progressive project accounting experience as obtained through similar professional roles, and a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related business field.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Significant experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit accounting and restricted funds, including knowledge of State and Federal financial regulations and experience with 501(c)(3) requirements.

This is a full-time, exempt/salaried, benefit-eligible remote position. The target hiring salary for this position is $90K annually.
