About the role

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has a unique and exciting position available within the Field Services and Compliance Bureau, Field Office 4, located in Atlantic, Iowa. The position involves supporting the compliance assistance and enforcement team with data entry related to various environmental regulatory programs.

Responsibilities

  • Track submission of monthly monitoring reports and assist regulated industries and municipalities with reporting questions.
  • Lead administrative support duties for the FO4 team, including overseeing service contracts, purchasing, invoicing, customer support activities, records management, equipment inventory, and management support of state vehicles assigned to the field office.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence, record files, scan and digitize paper files, assist staff with file retrieval, and respond to open records requests from the public.
  • Prepare routine field office reports for review and approval, draft, review, and proof correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and other documentation for recording and distribution.
  • Provide customer service by receiving incoming phone calls, greeting visitors, responding to routine inquiries, providing information, and directing individuals to appropriate staff.
  • Aid in scheduling appointments, meetings, and conferences for staff, and provide administrative assistance to the field office staff and supervisor.

Requirements

Requires organization and management of multiple priorities and projects, and filing and maintaining public records in accordance with policy. Infrequent travel is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • One year of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.
  • A total of one year of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.
