About the role

This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 6), Richmond VA Medical Center, Community Care Service.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) Community Care Package; core package; train and user support; usage of new systems and programs.
  • Cookpilot correspondence, communication, problem resolution, and regulation interpretation for all customers served by VA Community Care program.
  • Assist the Community Care in conducting special studies and analyses of activities that may present problems of a special nature to VA Community Care.
  • Aid with drafting and replying to executive level and controlled correspondence for the signature of the Service Chief or Program Manager, which includes Senatorial/Congressional inquiries.
  • Extract and assemble information, conduct analysis, and develop reports or presentations; can make on-the-spot presentations and implement mechanisms to enhance/evaluate and define VA mission products, including important tracking tools for Vendor concerns, needs, and/or requests.
  • Create new informational materials for medical center facility customers (mainly vendors) and staff, including fact sheets, brochures, handouts, standardized letters, etc., that increase communication with the target audience.
  • Collect data from all appropriate sources, review, and validate the data collected, and prepare formal responses to the requesting organization.
  • Follow up with potential and previous vendors to render current instructions and certification requirements including system enrollment, training, and obtaining current updated licenses/credentials.
  • Check eligibility licensing, certification, education, and general requirements for the VA Community Care program.
  • Coordinate appointments with interested and contracted vendors; confirm schedules by personally contacting providers and arranging their participation during the enrollment phase(s) and encounters.
  • Support vendors in understanding their rights, benefits, and obligations related to non-VA healthcare.
  • Represent the VISN and Medical Center Directors in safeguarding and ensuring ethical, statutory, and constitutional rights of patients.
  • Process documents for Veterans, determine vendor eligibility, and respond to inquiries regarding services and other administrative matters, and resolve patient or family, and vendor complaints, and coordinate with the VA Community Care Program Manager for awareness purposes.
  • Identify existing and potential problem areas, suggest solutions or alternatives to existing procedures which contribute to these problems.

Qualifications

  • Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
  • Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Performs a wide range of administrative and technical duties, subject matter for Eligibility & Enrollment (E&E), and working knowledge of other computer software programs necessary to track and monitor Veteran information; enter data into appropriate databases; compile and review data for monthly reports, spreadsheets, and local documents. Uses Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VA program.

Pay: Commensurate with experience.
