About the role

The Program Manager for Player & Youth Development at the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation leads efforts to expand access to golf, develop young people on and beyond the course, and grow a thriving youth golf community throughout the San Fernando Valley. This role combines leadership, coaching, community partnership development, and program innovation to create meaningful experiences for thousands of young golfers and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow one of Southern California's premier youth golf communities.
  • Build strategic partnerships with schools, golf facilities, community organizations, and local leaders.
  • Recruit, develop, and inspire a team of coaches, staff, and volunteers.
  • Shape the future of youth golf programming throughout the San Fernando Valley.
  • Create meaningful experiences that help young people build confidence, resilience, leadership, and life skills.
  • Lead and grow youth programs, overseeing planning, delivery, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams, recruiting, training, supervising, and mentoring coaches, staff, and volunteers.
  • Strengthen community partnerships, building relationships with schools, golf facilities, community organizations, and local stakeholders.
  • Coach and inspire young golfers, serving as a lead coach for youth golf programs across multiple skill levels.
  • Manage operations and strategy, overseeing budgets, reporting, scheduling, and program logistics.
  • Track key performance metrics and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term planning initiatives that advance the Foundation's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of relevant education and work experience.
  • Minimum of two years' experience coaching golf, either youth or adults (experience coaching youth preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience required.
  • Three to five years of youth development experience preferred.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines, prioritize work activities, and ensure successful execution of multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical ability to process diverse information with accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated excellent group presentation skills and professional yet approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to integrate diverse viewpoints and work effectively with staff, volunteers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to listen to others and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Ability to adapt well to changes in the work environment, and implement effective changes to improve results.
  • Strong eye for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work within the approved budget and manage resources efficiently.
  • Strong initiative, ability to work independently, and pay attention to detail.
  • Proficient in registration and database software (ex: Salesforce), Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated passion for junior golf and youth development.
  • Knowledge of the game of golf and ability to instruct others.
  • Mets productivity and quality standards set by the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation.
  • Capable of working outdoors for extended periods and in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Must have reliable transportation with sufficient space for transporting supplies and equipment.
  • If using a personal vehicle, a valid California driver's license and proof of auto insurance are required.
  • The role requires occasional travel, as well as availability to work on weekends and evenings.
  • The typical work schedule is Saturday through Wednesday, with duties performed across various locations, including SFV facilities (Woodley Lakes GC, Van Nuys GC and Hansen Dam GC), the SCGA office in Studio City, and other PYD programming sites.
