Program Manager of Diamond Youth Shelter
Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services. Today, Larkin Street is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area, serving 1,500 youth annually through emergency shelter, transitional, supportive, and subsidy-based housing at several sites across San Francisco. About the role
Reporting to the Associate Director, the Program Manager of Diamond Youth Shelter provides leadership and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Diamond Youth Shelter (DYS) within the mission of Larkin Street Youth Services. This includes supervision and training of residential counselors and case managers, development and implementation of program services, ensuring compliance with Community Care Licensing (CCL) regulations and grants, and supporting the program team. The Program Manager also develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community providers, including referral and resource agencies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of program services for youth ages 12 to 18 at Diamond Youth Shelter.
- Ensure the provision of basic services, special projects/activities, and an emotionally and physically safe, clean, and supportive environment.
- Provide regular supervision for residential counselors and case managers.
- Take primary responsibility for the effective operation of all client services.
- Supervise best practices for Residential Counselors and Case Manager service delivery.
- Facilitate staff meetings.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, training, and ongoing development of Program staff.
- Manage program budget and ensure agency procedures are followed.
- Coordinate intakes and assessments, and support case managers in keeping charts and paperwork up-to-date and complete.
- Coordinate Program coverage and scheduling.
- Complete monthly reports and ensure timely and accurate data collection procedures.
- Represent the agency at community meetings/activities, when appropriate.
- Attend and participate in all agency management meetings.
- Ensure program and facility are in compliance with Title 22 Community Care Licensing Regulations at all times.
- Ability to pass DOJ clearance to work in a licensed care facility.
- Obtain Group Home Administrator Certification within 6 months of hire and maintain certification while serving in this role.
- Serve as the Administrator of the facility.
- Hold On-Call manager responsibilities as assigned and scheduled in rotation.
Requirements
- Passion for the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.
- Case Management experience with Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), aged 18 to 25 of diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in direct-service roles in drop-in centers, shelters, transitional, and/or permanent supportive housing programs.
- Previous experience in leadership roles.
- Self-starter and team player with strong organizational skills, compassion, and natural leadership ability.
- Willingness to work mostly in person, with flexibility for up to 1 day per week to work-from-home, depending on program needs.
- Willingness to serve as an After Hours On-Call Supervisor for 7 days, every 6-8 weeks.
- Willingness to work holidays occasionally.
