Responsibilities
- Oversee daily program operations; respond to and report emergencies/incidents
- Facilitate introductions between DSPs and individuals receiving Community Habilitation services
- Supervise staff comprised of Direct Support Professionals, a part-time Nurse, and a Nutritionist
- Provide staff training to assure high quality programming and adherence to regulations
- Review and approve monthly attendance billings to assure Medicaid compliance and conduct monthly chart reviews to ensure OPWDD program and Medicaid billing compliance
- Ensure full 24/7 staff coverage. Responsible for emergency coverage. Some evening and weekend hours required
- Oversee pre-admission, admission and discharge planning
- Ensure compliance with all BCS and OPWDD policies and procedures
- Affirm that medical, nursing and nutritional needs are met and planned for, coordinated and implemented on an individualized basis
- Affirm that medication policies are properly adhered to by qualified personnel and that employee AMAP Certifications are renewed annually and records are maintained
- Affirm that residents, as needed, are accompanied to specialty, psychiatric and surgical appointments
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual agency reports
- Provide fiscal program oversight to assure the program operates within budget
- Oversee petty cash, ensuring all documentation is present and in accordance with agency purchasing policies and procedures
- Oversee Resident Individual Accounts and Personal Needs Allowance (PNA) in accordance with established agency procedures
- Develop and review service plans on a routine basis but no less than quarterly to ensure service plans are implemented as written. Ensure that the service planning process is individualized
- Maintain positive relationships with families, guardians, correspondents and/or other advocates through ongoing communication and meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a human services field required. Preferred areas of concentration Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Sociology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Human Services, or Healthcare Administration. A Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related Human Service Field preferred.
- Strong counseling skills; strong verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills and demonstrated leadership ability.
- A minimum of 3-5 years related experience working with persons with developmental disabilities with at least two years in a supervisory or administrative experience highly preferred.
- Valid New York State Drivers License preferred; Ability to drive a 16 passenger van is a plus.
- AMAP certification must be attained within 90 days of employment.
- Extensive knowledge of NYS OPWDD compliance standards, with a track record of successfully implementing Medicaid regulations and managing billing integrity.
- Strong background in supervising 24/7 residential services and ensuring compliance within OPWDD-certified settings required.
- Funder required criminal background check and finger printing required.
