About the role
The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating University Without Walls (UWW), DOROT’s flagship teleconference program for older adults. This position involves a rich combination of responsibilities that help us shape and deliver programming that best meets constituents’ interests and needs.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a vital and proactive member of the Onsite and Special Programs team, contributing to the achievement of UWW program and constituent goals and the sharing of information between programs.
- Plan and implement more than 150 teleconference programs annually on subjects related to art, culture, news, health and wellness, vision loss, bereavement, and more.
- Gauge the ongoing demand for current programs and participants’ additional program interests/needs.
- Develop additional opportunities for constituents to share their legacies, practice new skills, and connect with peers.
- Cultivate relationships with facilitators and cultural, health, social service, and educational organizations to produce new classes that expand the breadth of the UWW program.
- Enhance program planning and design by reviewing and analyzing relevant data from DOROT’s database and program evaluations.
- Execute strategies to engage new and diverse facilitators and participants.
- This includes developing and conducting presentations and speaking to community groups.
- Train and support volunteer and professional program facilitators by providing orientation, training, and feedback to support best practices for engaging older adults and building social connections in teleconference programs.
- Collaborate with other DOROT departments for participant support and program planning, including:
- Conferring with DOROT’s Supportive Services staff to address older adults’ needs for social work interventions, referrals, or other supports.
- Developing targeted marketing and outreach strategies for participant recruitment.
- Training, mentoring, and supervising office volunteers and interns to ensure that UWW practices and protocols are understood and carried out with professionalism and excellence.
- Supporting registration of new participants and serving as backup for managing teleconference call connections.
- Collect and enter participation data, constituent interactions, and partner relationships using DOROT’s online database (Salesforce platform); also contribute to the monthly review of statistics for internal reports and analysis of trends.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher with 3+ years of professional experience in education, social services, nonprofit management, or similar field.
- Experience in facilitating or teaching adult learners; working with older adults preferred.
- Highly proactive and critical thinker.
- Self-starter able to effectively and independently manage multiple time-sensitive projects and deliverables.
- Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated success in relationship cultivation.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking/presentations.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to perform complex administrative processes.
- Knowledge of Office 365; video conferencing (Zoom) is required.
- Availability to work occasional evening hours and approximately four Sundays per year.
