Job Summary
The Markey Cancer Center has an opening for a Program Coordinator II. The position will coordinate the activities of the Markey Science Training in Research, Oncology, Networking and professional Growth (STRONG) post-baccalaureate and undergraduate research scholars programs. This individual will work with the Associate Director of Cancer Education and Mentoring and MOMENTUM Coordinator to help strengthen ongoing pathway programs and help implement new programs within the Markey Cancer Center Office of Education and Mentoring. These activities, which span all trainee levels, seek to develop the next generation of cancer researchers, medical scientists, and cancer-focused research staff.
Responsibilities
- Help coordinate the day-to-day administrative activities of the Markey STRONG post-baccalaureate and undergraduate research programs.
- Plan recruiting events and distribute program information to prospective students.
- Facilitate the student recruitment and selection process including maintaining the program application and facilitating the applicant review process.
- Enroll students in the program including aiding in completion of required onboarding paperwork.
- Help coordinate program activities and schedules including clinician shadowing activities and interactions with other summer programs on campus.
- Help plan and coordinate outreach activities.
- Aid in the student tracking, program evaluation, and dissemination objectives.
- Provide mentorship/coaching and coordinate student check-ins to help gauge their personal and professional climate.
- Maintain STRONG Program budgets and expenses.
- Communicate opportunities for other research fellowships, scholarships, conference travel, travel awards and coordinate travel arrangements for students when necessary.
- Provide general support to the Office of Education and Mentoring when necessary.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Adobe Creative Suite applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- At least three years experience working in a collaborative research or administrative environment preferred
