Program Coordinator

The SCGA Junior Golf Foundation’s mission is to develop an inclusive golf community that enables kids to thrive on and beyond the course. Through its programs, the Foundation works to fulfill its mission by creating affordable access to golf for all youth, teaching smart decision-making skills, and developing a culture of healthy lifestyles. Founded in 1983, SCGA Junior Golf Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Southern California Golf Association. Its programs emphasize both player and youth development by providing a fun, safe, and engaging community for players, parents, and coaches.

About the role

The Program Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position assisting with the operation, growth, and exposure of the player and youth development programs (PYD) focused in the community. The Program Coordinator and PYD team implement positive youth development, golf, and athlete development programming for juniors. This role involves curriculum development, coach growth, and program facilitation at various field locations within the defined geographical boundary.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the oversight and implementation of all program and safety policies in San Fernando Valley, including program facilitation at Woodley Lakes, Hansen Dam, and Van Nuys golf courses.
• Implements positive youth development and team culture-building best practices in all aspects of programming.
• Serves as a lead golf instructor at beginner, intermediate, and advanced level programming while promoting safety and SCGA Junior Golf Foundation policies.
• Organizes and develops programming, activities, and events aligned with the Foundation’s mission and PYD program goals.
• Implements and manages program modifications to ensure goals are achieved.
• Provides supervision, feedback, and training to coaches on a regular basis.
• Recruits, schedules, and conducts one-on-one lessons.
• Administers equipment fittings.
• Develops and maintains community, facility, and stakeholder partnerships for program benefit.
• Assists in identifying outreach organization partners to better serve organizational goals.
• Participates in professional development, including positive youth development trainings, Titleist Performance Institute, U.S. Kids Golf seminars, and professional golf certifications.
• Ensures goals and objectives are met in customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and team member performance.
• Assists in planning short- and long-term strategies and objectives.
• Collects, records, and produces accurate and timely reports of program data.
• Manages attendance, rosters, equipment inventories, and data capture related to all programming.
• Creates, maintains, and manages all registration pages.
• Performs other relevant tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and/or a combination of acceptable education and relative work experience.
• In-depth knowledge of the game of golf; capable of independently leading intermediate to advanced programming initiatives.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in sports, events, operations, administrative, or similar roles.
• Customer service approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; outgoing and comfortable administering small group presentations.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with other departments and team members to achieve organizational goals.
• Able to troubleshoot, pivot, and adapt to changing situations and environments.
• Conveys a positive, professional, and approachable demeanor at all times.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, bend/stoop, lift and move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs. with minimal assistance.
• Able to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
• Flexible schedule; must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned working locations.
