Production Technician

About the role

The Production Team Member assembles finished product using sub-assemblies, parts and fasteners according to customer specification sheet and Adient’s ODSs. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role involves checking standard operating procedures, ensuring adequate supplies, resolving assembly and packing issues, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Check standard operating procedure to determine required assembly, quality checks and any special options.
• Check stock bins for adequate supplies of sub-assemblies, parts and fasteners for the particular run.
• Notifies material handler if shortage exists or incorrect parts are in bins.
• Checks operating controls and safety stops on conveyor.
• Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and sub-assemblies per customer order.
• From experience, resolves assembly and packing problems.
• Reports other problems to the maintenance or supervisor for assistance.
• Maintains clean and safe working environment in line within company policy.
• Performs 5S cleanup activities daily.
• Evaluates color and abides by the company handbook regarding safety rules and job rotations.
• Willing to report unsafe conditions, participate in safety/ergo committees, and attend safety events.
• Affirmatively participates in safety audits and safety observation feedback events.
• Assists the plant in achieving safety goals and maintaining objectives.
• Participates in communications events such as plant wide meetings, line meetings, department meetings, and training exercises.

Qualifications

• Education: Preferred High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 5-8 years’ experience in a production environment with evidence of increased responsibility a plus.
• Lifting Capacity: 30 lbs.

Skills

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
