About the role
The production Supervisor is responsible for providing management, guidance, and direction to production staff while overseeing all die cutting operations that occur during the assigned shift. The production supervisor ensures production schedule is achieved at expected costs, while meeting standards for safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Production Schedule: Identifies and secures necessary resources, schedules and assigns work to staff, managing and adjusting priorities.
- Manage direct labor, materials, and other related costs to budget.
- Monitors production process and progress in terms of meeting production goals; trouble-shoots problems as necessary.
- Ensures proper functioning of equipment by coordinating with maintenance and other departments as needed.
- Coordinates with incoming/outgoing shift leader and other staff as needed to ensure a smooth transition between shift.
- Provide People Leadership: Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff, provides ongoing training and development of staff members, fosters a positive work environment, and provides performance feedback to staff.
- Ensure Compliant Operations: Ensures a safe work environment, maintains clean work area consistent with GMP guidelines, and maintains quality production by operating within and enforcing organization standards.
- Reporting and Record-keeping: Ensures that all production hours are entered in SAP, work hours are accurately reported and maintained in HRIS, and all quality checks are completed for each line during each shift.
Requirements
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Associates degree in a business, or technical discipline preferred.
- Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred but not required.
- 5+ years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Union environment experience a plus.
- 2 + years’ experience in folding carton, corrugated, printed packaging strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in high volume, fast paced work environment with a biased towards action.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all employees through senior leadership level.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and best practices; familiarization with SAP.
- Bilingual Spanish a plus.
