Production Supervisor

This Production Supervisor position supports sustainable farming, strong communities, and the mission to deliver fresh, local dairy daily. The role is on either 2nd or 3rd shift and requires weekend and holiday availability.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Plant Manager and manage all areas of the Packaging Department.
• Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives, including Capital Projects, PM planning, measurements, and E-time coordination (HR Support).
• Coordinate the movement of raw materials and finished product.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor labor.
• Prepare weekly schedules and job assignments; distribute to all departments and submit manpower reports to the Plant Manager.
• Plan and set up coverage for upcoming weekends prior to Friday.
• Post and maintain current employee qualification lists.
• Submit work orders for safety, equipment repairs, and process upgrades.
• Report losses in Filling/Packaging Departments.
• Maintain responsibility for all company guidelines, enforcing Plant rules, Food Safety, and GMPs.
• Comply with weekly Safety measurement requirements and attend Safety meetings.
• Prepare for emergencies, including knowing employee rally points, alarm types, and contact phone numbers.
• Ensure food quality and safety are the highest priority, demonstrated by active employee participation and personal involvement in auditing procedures.
• In the absence of the Production Supervisor, the Sanitation Manager assumes duties.

Daily Requirements

• Conduct pre-shift meetings to review prior shift results, issues, and opportunities.
• Prepare job assignments, revise manpower as needed, and prioritize based on meeting directions.
• Review emails, holds, and pertinent actions requiring attention.
• Conduct crew meetings to review production details from the previous day and provide a Safety toolbox topic.
• Review CIP needs for all lines and available product against production needs.
• Perform hourly rounds to:
  • Verify product labels, codes, and weights are correct.
  • Ensure Filler SOP adherence.
  • Confirm run time information accuracy.
  • Utilize personnel to cover breaks/lunch.
• End-of-shift tasks:
  • Review production needs with incoming Production Supervisor and Processing Supervisor.
  • Check shift crewing, accounting for tardiness/absences.
  • Cover overtime as needed.
  • Review current line details and plans for following shifts with staff.
  • Complete and send out shift reports.
  • Turn in paperwork for OEE accounting.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years.

Pay

$75,000–$85,000 per year. The salary range represents the good-faith and reasonable minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, training, knowledge, education, and qualifications.
