About the role

The Production Supervisor oversees all production and packaging operations, ensuring employee safety, product quality, and achievement of daily work targets. This role operates in compliance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes, providing direct supervision, guidance, and training to assigned employees. The supervisor collaborates with the department manager to create or edit SOPs in alignment with process improvement and company initiatives within a cGMP workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Be on the production floor at least 75% of the time.
  • Drive initiatives impacting employee safety, product quality, line efficiency, and process improvement.
  • Initiate, monitor, and validate repairs for processing and packaging equipment.
  • Monitor and resolve downtime issues across all stages of production.
  • Perform quality checks and address production challenges across multiple lines.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of quality processes, testing requirements, standards, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Manage tool inventory, material management, pick lists, scanning, inventory transactions, and lot reconciliation.
  • Ensure operators follow procedures, perform quality checks, meet changeover targets, and complete required documentation.
  • Facilitate interactions between operators, maintenance, quality, and warehouse teams.
  • Produce shift summaries including schedule adherence, equipment performance, quality deviations, and improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee quality and continuous improvement in nutraceutical processing and packaging.
  • Set goals, objectives, and metrics to achieve performance measures.
  • Support corporate quality initiatives through team and individual contributions.
  • Ensure daily production activities meet or exceed production and shipping deadlines.
  • Interface with Production Planning, Warehousing, Maintenance, Quality Assurance/Control, Purchasing, and Human Resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to develop, implement, and improve tactical operational plans.
  • Review and edit SOPs for accuracy and compliance.
  • Direct and coordinate employee efforts to comply with health, safety, and good housekeeping policies, including cGMPs.
  • Develop cross-functional skills for employees to support customer needs and production forecasts.
  • Justify equipment and staffing requirements for processing and packaging areas.
  • Decrease process variability and improve product quality through training and follow-up.
  • Conduct regular meetings with subordinates and complete administrative tasks such as evaluations and reports.
  • Coach employees to meet job objectives and manage performance issues.
  • Maximize manufacturing efficiency by managing daily operational activities.
  • Suggest and implement new business practices to meet key performance objectives.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that supports employee development, growth, and advancement.
  • Conduct business in compliance with the corporation’s Code of Business Conduct.
  • Collaborate with the department manager on employee selection, training, and development.
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or higher in a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in a supervisory role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, peers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP, food safety, and/or cosmetic manufacturing standards preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as workload demands.
