Production Supervisor II

The Production Supervisor II will coordinate the cylinder filling to optimize safe cylinder handling. Before out-off, fill the cylinder on stock. After out-off, fill the cylinder to support customer requirements. Performs filling operations according to operations plan: collaborates to ensure filling start up and stop in a safe manner, follows the procedure and coordinates parameters: connection and disconnection of the cylinders, the handling of all the valves needed to fill the cylinders or bundles with the right content, alongside key tasks like analysis, batch numbering, label application, and completing forms for traceability.
Monitors and guides parameters, performs tests and checks physical data for excellent production in quality and quantity and supports corrective operations while parameters are not fully aligned. Serves as a supportive first responder in emergency situations and initiates safety procedures, keeping management informed of any safety and/or activity issues.
Coordinates primary and secondary cylinder handling operations by performing operations according to plan for empty cylinders, including unloading trucks, selection (sorting) of cylinders, reviewing test dates and overall cylinder condition, and positioning in the empty buffer zone waiting for filling. For full cylinders, this includes picking according to customer orders, taking cylinders from the full buffer zone or stock, and loading trucks. All forklift activity linked to secondary distribution is included.
Collaborates to maintain operations compliance with safety procedures, particularly for lock-out and confined spaces. Prioritizes the use of protective equipment. Supports day-to-day adherence to quality procedures for process and final product analysis and contributes to the fulfillment of analytic plans. Completes the operations book and administrative documentation, enters daily production data in the system, tracks production events, completes and shares incident reports, and reviews Standard Operating Procedures, P&IDs, PFDs, and other technical documentation related to plant-specific equipment.
Participates in process improvement by identifying process and procedure improvements from incident analysis, recognizing situational risks, and proposing collaborative changes regarding safety or productivity.
Responsibilities

- Monitor and guide filling parameters, perform tests, and check physical data for quality and quantity.
- Serve as a first responder in emergency situations and initiate safety procedures.
- Coordinate primary and secondary cylinder handling operations, including unloading, sorting, reviewing, and loading cylinders.
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures, particularly for lock-out and confined spaces.
- Support adherence to quality procedures and contribute to analytic plans.
- Complete administrative documentation, enter production data, and track production events.
- Review and update technical documentation such as SOPs, P&IDs, and PFDs.
- Identify process improvements and propose changes for safety and productivity.
Requirements
- Minimum of three to five years of industry-related experience and/or training.
- Experience and working knowledge of cylinder fill operations or similar industrial production industry.
- Proficiency in operating a forklift and maintaining appropriate forklift certifications.
- Ability to work flexible hours and meet customer needs.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Clear and effective communication skills for explaining information to customers and employees.
- Experience leading teams in a production environment.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and operate in a drug-free workplace.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, operations, or related field preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with two to three years of related experience in a similar industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Pay
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $85,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
