Responsibilities
- Supervise department personnel and their activities to meet department objectives.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to employees and assign duties.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in solving work problems.
- Control department overtime.
- Control department absenteeism.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase department efficiency.
- Responsible for interviewing, selection, and orientation of subordinates; ensure they receive training and development consistent with responsibilities.
- Recommend personnel actions such as wage increases, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
- Interpret company policies to employees.
- Handle first step in employee counseling.
- Conduct performance/wage review of all subordinates at least once each year.
- Responsible for production and personnel reports and record keeping.
- Responsible for safety, security, first aid, and good housekeeping within the department; encourage, promote, and enforce company policies in these areas.
- Maintain upward and downward communications regularly to ensure smooth department operations; communicate to superiors specific department objectives, their progress and completion.
- Work with the scheduler to assure material, equipment, and manpower are available to meet production schedules.
- Responsible for employee education and implementation of company policies and procedures to meet company requirements including environmental and quality standards.
- Work with the Quality Assurance department to improve product quality.
- Accept special assignments and complete them in a timely manner.
- Understand and utilize the company's systems required for the position.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Production and Operations Management or equivalent job experience as a production supervisor.
- One to three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing/job shop environment.
- Knowledge of LEAN concepts.
- Experience interpreting blueprints and using measuring equipment devices (e.g., micrometers, comparator, etc.).
- Basic knowledge and understanding of workplace safety.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
