Production Manager- AWS
About the Role
This Production Manager AWS role oversees and coordinates the activities of a complex production line producing crankshafts for large diesel, natural gas, and alternative fuel reciprocating engines at the Lafayette Engine Center (LEC). The position prepares schedules, coordinates resources, resolves issues, and ensures adherence to safety and quality standards. This role is currently on a day shift alternate work schedule (Mon/Tues/Wed) but may transition to a traditional 5-day work week on day or night shift in the future depending on business needs.
The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) designs and manufactures large (greater than 18 liters) diesel and natural gas engines, powertrains, and key engine systems. LPSD products support customers across power generation, industrial, marine, oil & gas, rail, services, and Cat® machine applications worldwide.
The Lafayette Engine Center (LEC) manufactures the Cat 3500, Cat 3600, and C175 engines, powering mining trucks, tugboats, drill rigs, and generators that bring electricity to communities, hospitals, and data centers.
Responsibilities
- Lead direct reports through significant process changes as the production line is transformed through capital investments over the next 2 years.
- Collaborate with process partners in maintenance, supply chain, facilities engineering, manufacturing and design engineering, and quality to achieve goals in People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost.
- Create reports and records of production processes, tool issues, performance, and inventory; share them with managers and provide suggestions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Prepare, maintain, and update documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards; ensure all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of production line workers, assign tasks, ensure coordination between teams, monitor safety, and evaluate performance.
- Train new hires, manage scheduling and work conflicts, monitor safety, and promote internal communication to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Requirements
High School Diploma, and/or associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Qualifications
- Experience working within an extended value stream methodology with cross-departmental collaboration among operations, quality, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, supply chain, and maintenance.
- Experience with engines and component manufacturing.
- Experience in a team Lead or supervisory role in machine shop operations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively, work as part of a team, and collaborate with a diverse group of employees and customers.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Effective motivational skills, high degree of initiative, and strong customer focus.
- History of delivering results through roles with increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire a team.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
- Experience with machining, precision gaging, and component cleanliness.

Pay
Summary pay range: $89,210.00 - $133,810.00. Compensation and benefits may vary depending on job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.

Additional Information
This position is located in Lafayette, IN. Domestic relocation assistance is available. The role may require up to 5% travel. Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must work onsite five days a week.
