Production Assistant - Day Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for properly performing activities relative to assisting the extrusion operator in efficiently operating the extrusion equipment and producing quality products within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Contributes to accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
• Aid the department in producing a quality product based upon product specifications.
• Maintain and complete quality checks to ensure that the products (color, surface, size, etc.) meet product standards before packaging.
• Place pallets and apply proper packaging techniques for finished materials as directed.
• Move materials to designated areas as needed.
• Support the extrusion operator with all machine cleaning tasks, such as saws, tanks, etc., when necessary.
• Communicate daily issues and relevant information to production assistants, assistant operators, operators, and team leaders as required.
• Follow all plant safety procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
• Understand and adhere to all company policies, practices, and procedures.
• Complete detailed production operator reports.
• Fill out additional quality and production paperwork as necessary.
• Apply labels according to product specifications.
• Perform housekeeping duties in the production area.
• Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by leadership.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills
• Other Requirements: Ability to read, write, and understand the English language. Basic mathematical proficiency in the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read gauges and similar measuring devices.
