About the role

The Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR) calls on users of Electric Power Generation units to provide the best maintenance and repair options available through Altorfer Power Systems. This role promotes territorial service objectives, assists users in achieving lower operating costs by recommending appropriate service product options, and targets prospect customers for parts and full chassis service opportunities for the Caterpillar On-Highway Truck division.

Each PSSR is assigned a territory and customer base, with a weekly call quota and responsibility to attend weekly staff meetings to report progress. Local travel is required using a company car and fuel.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Parts, Service, and Inside Sales to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction for Truck and Generator service.
  • Practice fundamentals of good sales techniques: prospecting, telemarketing, preparing effective sales presentations, using sales aids, and closing.
  • Aggressively work Prospect Customer list for all engine and full chassis opportunities.
  • Profile all assigned accounts following the Product Support Sales Manager’s direction and perform periodic maintenance throughout the year.
  • Maintain an in-person account frequency of 12 per week with one office day.
  • Promote all current service and parts special sales promotions (e.g., CSA, ESC, Parts Store).
  • Submit all customer communication indicating contact and subjects discussed in Sales Link Activities.
  • Monitor customer database in Sales Link for contact name changes, address/phone updates, account name changes, email, and unit information.
  • Maintain a library of all Caterpillar service publications as necessary.
  • Assist with maintenance of engine serial numbers/unit numbers and contact information for all customers using Sales Link.
  • Utilize Truck.Cat.Com as a source of information for the on-highway engine business.
  • Participate in factory visits, local trade associations, and related commercial marketing activities.
  • Identify and report non-Cat sales opportunities in A.O.R., including competitor information in Sales Link under prospects and applicable Campaign.
  • Assist with credit issues for delinquent charge customer accounts.
  • Submit expense reports with receipts for all incurred expenses by the first Monday of the new month.

Requirements

  • A two or four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college preferred.
  • Previous experience in a service organization, power systems sales, or related sales coordination role preferred.
  • Computer proficiency in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and CRM software.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years).

Pay

$70,000 - $100,000 annually USD

Schedule

8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Work Environment

This position works out of an office environment and travels to meet customers. Responsibilities may include sitting at a desk or in a car for extended periods, answering telephone calls, and using a keyboard for written communication. Traveling to visit current and new customers is required. Walking and lifting up to 50 lbs. may be necessary. Noise level in the office environment is usually moderate to low.
