About the role

We are seeking a compliance engineer to join our team based in Portland. You will be part of a team responsible for ensuring all products sold in the US and internationally meet safety regulatory requirements for those markets. This includes understanding and complying with regulations such as FMVSS, FMCSA, and ADR affecting motor vehicle safety.

Responsibilities

  • Become one of the few experts in motor vehicle compliance working across multiple product lines and projects.
  • Work on the latest products being developed by Daimler, incorporating the latest technologies.
  • Support the development of new projects by working cross-functionally across engineering fields like Chassis and Mechatronics.
  • Explain certification and compliance requirements to engineers, managers, and upper management.
  • Dig deep into regulations to develop interpretations and provide explanations.
  • Work in a team to gather and document supplier, engineer, and test documentation to ensure our trucks meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Submit certification materials to regulators or other required data to regulatory entities as needed.

Requirements

BS/BA with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering-related field, or Legal/Compliance proficiency. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to read, analyze, and summarize detailed regulatory language. Exceptional candidates might have familiarity with heavy-duty vehicles or passenger cars and emission/safety standards.

Qualifications

Proven ability to accomplish tasks with the highest standards of ethics. Strong working relationships with employees and managers. Experience with DTNA internal IT systems/tools and understanding of vehicle specs.

Skills

Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interpret complex regulatory language. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Pay

Salary range: $104,000 to $133,000 USD, dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

Schedule

Hybrid (4 days per week in-office / 1 day remote).
