About the role

Calnetix is an engineering and manufacturing company located in Southern California, dedicated to advancing energy solutions for commercial and defense sectors. We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of our power electronics product line.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for assigned power electronics products, from concept through production, sustainment, and end-of-life.
  • Define and maintain the product roadmap aligned with market needs, customer requirements, and company business objectives.
  • Develop product positioning, value propositions, and competitive differentiation for B2B and defense markets.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating insights into product roadmap and positioning decisions.
  • Act as a primary interface with customers, including defense primes, integrators, and industrial OEMs.
  • Support sales efforts by participating in customer meetings, technical reviews, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Identify new market opportunities and contribute to pipeline growth through customer engagement and market analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams on architecture trade-offs, feature prioritization, and technical feasibility.
  • Participate in or lead technical program management activities, including schedule, risk, cost, operations, and supply chain management.
  • Ensure products meet performance, quality, compliance, and reliability requirements, including defense-specific standards where applicable.
  • Own and support contract execution and compliance, ensuring product development and delivery align with contractual requirements, technical scope, schedules, deliverables, and applicable regulatory standards; identify and manage scope changes, risks, and contractual impacts in coordination with contract management, legal, and business leadership.
  • Lead or contribute to technical proposal development, including requirements responses, compliance matrices, and technical volumes.
  • Support pricing strategies, cost models, and margin analysis.
  • Participate in customer negotiations and help drive contract awards to closure.
  • Support bid/no-bid decisions with technical, market, and financial input.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline (advanced degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, product marketing, or technical program management for hardware-based products.
  • Hands-on familiarity with electronics, with preference for experience in: Power electronics, Motor controllers or drives, Embedded or electromechanical systems.
  • Strong background in B2B product strategy and customer requirements development.
  • Proven experience working directly with customers, including technical discussions and commercial support.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing NPI processes for power electronics.
  • Experience in the defense sector, aerospace, or other regulated industries.
  • Ability to write clear, compelling technical proposals and customer-facing documentation.
  • Comfort working across engineering, operations, supply chain, sales, and executive leadership.
  • Willingness to travel for customer visits, industry events, and trade shows.
  • Experience owning or supporting P&L, cost management, or product-line financial performance.
  • Prior experience as a Technical Program Manager (TPM) or in a role combining program execution with product ownership.
  • Familiarity with defense acquisition processes, RFP/RFQ responses, and long-cycle B2B sales.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating with sales and business development teams.

Benefits

Calnetix offers a competitive salary range of $165,000-$200,000, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Schedule
