Product Inspector - Weld Inspector
Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, is seeking a Product Inspector. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally and over 1,200 employees worldwide.
About the role
Under moderate supervision, performs simple to complex dimensional and visual inspection of parts, final assemblies, tooling, or cylinders using appropriate tolerance-based inspection, measuring, and test equipment (IM&TE). Reads and interprets drawings, inspection plans, and specifications to ensure requirements are met. Completes quality records and documents non-conforming products. Focus is on learning advanced inspection techniques and mastering the use of complex inspection equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate dimensional and visual inspection of components, final assemblies, purchased products, tooling, or cylinders using appropriate tolerance-based IM&TE according to specifications.
- Read and interpret documents such as drawings, work order instructions, inspection plans, and specifications.
- Verify products conform to all engineering requirements, work order specifications, and instructions.
- Conduct basic in-process and courtesy checks for production, including in-process inspection auditing.
- Perform accurate inspection on various thread types (e.g., NPT, NPTF, UNF, BPT, API) using Go/NoGo ring gauges and specifications.
- Complete and document inspection records (e.g., 1st Article reports, Dimensional reports, LAT documents) using various software programs and inspection instructions.
- Interpret and perform inspections on GD&T dimensions.
- Record non-conformances of products or documents and forward information to appropriate personnel.
- Learn to use advanced inspection equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator).
- Adhere to safety practices and procedures, including Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) policies and procedures related to NIST 800-171.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds in accordance with specifications.
- Perform related duties as assigned; regular and consistent attendance is required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED).
- Three or more years of inspection or machining experience.
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, work orders, instructions, inspection plans, and specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, indicators).

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and frequently required to talk or hear. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reaches with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices and at a minimum lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment is organized and controlled.
Pay
$22.33–$29.03 per hour, based on candidate's experience.
