About the role
A Product Engineer at Klein Tools designs, develops, and improves products within the tool industry. This role involves problem-solving, evaluating design options, and implementing solutions with guidance from managers or experienced engineers. The position also includes managing multiple projects, coordinating technical development activities, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop products and systems within determined program requirements
- Determine and execute appropriate theoretical principles and practical approaches to product design
- Represent the organization in supplier meetings to resolve important questions and plan work
- Manage multiple low to medium difficulty projects proactively with guidance from managers or more experienced engineers
- Accurately estimate and build project timelines within phase gate product development framework
- Oversee and coordinate multiple low to medium action items concurrently
- Conduct detailed feasibility studies for proposed products or systems
- Coordinate and schedule technical development activities, resolving design and testing issues with support from managers and senior engineers as needed
- Act as a liaison with internal customers and suppliers to ensure adherence to design specifications
- Develop structured PowerPoint presentations to communicate findings effectively to internal stakeholders and outside vendors
- Use Excel formulas and charts to evaluate project metrics and present insights to team members
- Apply basic 3D CAD and Finite Element Analysis skills
- Minimize negative financial impact during project implementation
- Work closely with Product Management in developing new products
- Perform other duties as requested
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or program
- Technical, analytical, planning, and organizational skills
- A basic understanding of business-related initiatives
- Demonstrated experience facilitating projects and solutions with multiple interactions
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present both technical analysis and financial-based justifications
- The ability to function in an environment of changing priorities, goals, and direction amid stressful conditions and under time constraints
- A strong team focus and the ability to work with others, both internally and externally to the organization
