About the role
The Product Developer plays a critical role in managing seasonal sock assortments, key styles, and special make-up programs to meet specific consumer needs. This position involves close collaboration with design, merchandising, and production teams to coordinate in-season product development, new projects, timelines, and product approvals. The Product Developer ensures high-quality standards while adhering to delivery dates set by sales and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Review worksheets for accurate details and callouts to ensure efficient development of new styles.
- Communicate with factories to ensure adherence to development schedules.
- Approve product details and pre-production samples.
- Plan and coordinate development activities (submittals, sampling, etc.) to ensure timely completion.
- Develop best practices to optimize product development procedures.
- Manage and review lab dips and yarn selections from factories for accurate development of new styles.
- Review sock samples for spec measurements, color, and features; provide development comments to factories for corrections.
- Maintain consistency and accuracy of information flow between design, development, and overseas vendors.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure approved development samples match pre-production samples and final production.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support company needs and operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or a related field, with 2-3 years of experience in design or product development, including legwear or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of fashion trends, including color, fabric, and style.
- High creativity and artistic abilities, with a keen eye for color, texture, and pattern, and the ability to visualize in three dimensions.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator & Photoshop), Microsoft Office, and Acrobat.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interpersonal collaboration.
- Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple tasks under critical time frames.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-driven with a commitment to applying good work habits to complete tasks efficiently.
