About the role
The Part-time Producer organizes, conceptualizes, and develops topics, features, and guests for WWTN-FM that align with the lifestyle and interests of the show’s listeners. This role partners with hosts, the Program Director, and others to create engaging content, increase listenership, and enhance subscriber satisfaction. The Producer is responsible for the daily technical operation of the show, maintaining relevant social platforms, and growing the show’s brand through digital content, video, and podcast initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Live management and radio board operation for the show’s daily content, sound, and presentation
- Creation and updating of in-show and out-of-show imaging, produced teases/promos, and production elements supporting the morning show and station promotions
- Managing the show’s daily digital content (website, texting, social media) with creative and tune-in messaging, 7 days a week
- Growing the show’s brand through video and podcast initiatives
- Developing, researching, and producing daily topics and segments
- Booking and pre-interviewing guests
- Organizing and documenting pre-show, post-show, and afternoon planning meetings
- Attending meetings with the Program Director to align content and strategy with station goals
- Representing the show in promotion, sales, and station planning meetings
- Creating and maximizing revenue opportunities
- Coordinating logistics for remote and special broadcasts
- Designing and managing systems for archiving audio, show content, and digital assets
- Tactical planning for future shows, interviews, and immediate opportunities
- Collaborating with hosts and the Program Director to optimize show structure and content for ratings growth
- Directing presenters, content providers, assistants, and crew members
- Obtaining permissions/licenses for recording, broadcasting, and using music or audio archives
- Monitoring listener emails, inquiries, and responses
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Radio Producer and/or Assistant in a smaller market or college station
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Radio or Media Production, or related field (preferred)
- Strong social and digital media experience
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Creative and strategic problem-solving abilities
- Team collaboration and leadership skills
- Understanding of PPM/Nielsen Ratings and research interpretation
- Deep knowledge of music, pop culture, and current events relevant to the station’s target demographic
- Strong relationships in the music/entertainment community and a robust contact list
- Proficiency with production tools (Op X, VOX Pro/Adobe Audition, Audacity) and music/research programs (Stratus)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms
- Strong knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
- Flexibility with work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
