Produce - Perishables Rep - Part time

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service by taking orders via telephone or in person and assisting customers with product selections.
• Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh products daily while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.
• Slice, package, label, and rotate products; scan items into Telxon for production; assist in technical areas as needed.
• Merchandise product effectively using suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and increase department sales.
• Make regular announcements related to freshly-produced items and to drive sales.
• Clean and sanitize display cases; properly operate and maintain equipment in compliance with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards and departmental SOPs.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Aguas: Peel, cut, and chop fresh fruits and vegetables; prepare fresh specialty drinks and food products specific to the Aguas department.
• Floral: Design floral arrangements; provide a variety of fresh, quality products; design and execute merchandising programs; track seasonal records as appropriate.
• Market: Cut, trim, and prepare meat for service counters and self-service; ensure proper product rotation and storage; maintain coolers and freezers; weigh, price, and package selections; operate power meat prep and processing equipment.
• Produce: Stock and rotate product to ensure freshness; assist the floral department when needed; communicate product knowledge to customers by explaining and providing samples; cut, wrap, and price produce for the sales floor; maintain signing program.
• Seafood: Demonstrate knowledge of various fish and shellfish; weigh, price, and package selections; maintain coolers and freezers.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Customer service and communication skills.
• Computer systems knowledge including Telxon, ACR, and label machines.
• Strong reading, writing, planning, and organizing skills.
• Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training.

Function in a fast-paced retail environment while staying attentive to customer needs.

Market: Constantly reach at waist; frequently stand, walk, pivot, push/pull arms, grasp, and perform cervical flexion; frequently exposed to wet, cold conditions; occasionally reach overhead, at shoulder, at knee, or at floor, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, twist, pinch, perform fine motor movements; occasionally exposed to hot conditions, ambient temperatures, and loud noise. Ability to lift 90 lbs and manage in excess of 90 lbs.
