About the role
The Procurement Officer at Puller Veterans Care Center is responsible for understanding and implementing Commonwealth of Virginia’s Accounting and Procurement policies, procedures, and systems. Key responsibilities include researching and purchasing goods and services, developing specifications, analyzing market trends, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Research and purchase goods and services in compliance with VA regulations and policies.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Assist requestors with purchasing decisions and provide necessary resources.
- Review requisition orders for accuracy and prepare purchase orders.
- Resolve vendor issues and ensure compliance with procurement laws and regulations.
- Manage purchasing cards and ensure adherence to spending limits and guidelines.
- Supervise purchasing activities and assist in emergencies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- VCA certification required.
- Experience in procurement/purchasing for the Commonwealth of Virginia or government entities preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of business and management principles.
- Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Skills
- Understanding of VA procurement policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in using VA procurement systems like E-VA, SWAM, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually.
