About the role

Able and available to perform all processing positions in the absence of the operator who normally performs the job. This includes Separation Operator, RO Milk Operator, Membrane Operator, Pre Batching Operator, UHT Operator, and CIP Operator.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Tetra Aldose, Alsafe, and UHT pasteurization equipment safely and sanitarily, following all GMPs.
  • Monitor and maintain process controls of heat exchangers, document accurate recordings of process parameters.
  • Clean processing equipment, including hand cleaning parts, clean-in-place (CIP), and clean out of place (COP) operations daily.
  • Perform start-up and shut-down procedures, CIP of silos, and line circuits.
  • Take proper samples of products for QA testing and monitor CIP system for chemical strengths.
  • Service pumps, valves, and heat exchangers as needed or per the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Develop and train team members.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • High School-level verbal and written communication skills; basic computational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot small problems and discern when issues require input from higher authority.
  • Willingness to ask for assistance when processes are unclear.
  • Must work safely, efficiently, and follow all safety procedures, including using safety equipment.
  • Ability to operate equipment effectively after the appropriate break-in period.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Minimum 15,000 steps per shift.
  • Climb 26 stairs (one way) every hour, totaling 312 one-way or 624 round-trip stairs per shift.
  • Lift up to 50+ pounds (no more than 80 pounds).
  • Climb ladders up to 15 feet.
  • Stand up to 1 hour straight; continuous physical activity for up to 1 hour.
  • Stand throughout the shift; walk on uneven concrete and tile surfaces.
  • Occasionally lift up to 60 pounds; team lifts for weights over 100 pounds.
  • Push/pull objects such as empty pallets, brooms, and pipe-fittings.
  • Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, and turn at the waist during duties.
  • Climb approved stairs or ladders; reach below, at, or above shoulder level.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for servicing pumps, using scrub brushes, and connecting pipe-fittings.

Employees may be subject to ambient and elevated temperatures up to 110 degrees due to equipment operation and cleaning.

Food Safety Requirements

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Comply with the color-coded container policy in Production Areas.
  • Perform duties to meet Company, Customer, and/or Government standards.
  • Initiate action to prevent nonconformities related to Food Safety, Quality, or safety systems.
  • Identify and record problems relating to Food Safety, Quality, or safety systems.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until deficiencies are corrected.
  • In absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume duties and responsibilities.

Pay

Base pay range: $27—$27 USD per hour.

Schedule

This is a night shift position with hours from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, following a rotating 2-2-3 schedule: two days on, two days off, three days on, followed by two days off, two days on, and three days off. Team members work every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Position location: Coopersville, MI. Reports to: Processing Supervisor. Little to no travel required. This position is eligible for bonus.
