Process Surveillance

Working Environment

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility specializes in producing large, advanced composite aerostructures, including critical components for the Airbus A350 XWB, such as the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational surveillance of people, technical processes, quality management system processes, and products.
• Assess individuals’ qualifications for technical processes or inspection authority.
• Act as a subject matter expert for line teams on technical processes and quality management systems.
• Participate in daily SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) cadence and performance reviews.
• Analyze data and generate reports to identify top issues, briefing results to shop floor and leadership teams using the SQCDP review system.
• Ensure regular communication with operators and structured reporting to management on ongoing issues.
• Conduct research, benchmarking, and analysis to ensure process execution conforms to requirements.
• Support root cause analyses and evaluate corrective action implementation to mitigate nonconformance issues.
• Interface with employees, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with requirements.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, quality, engineering, or a related role.
• Proficiency in technical writing.
• 5% domestic/international travel.
• Strong ability to work in a multifunctional team.
• Autonomous and rigorous with a focus on product safety and personal integrity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to articulate complex issues.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace manufacturing and quality, with familiarity with associated standards.
• Competence in conducting operational surveillance or quality audits (process and product).
• Facilitation skills, particularly in problem-solving.
• Skilled in MS Office and/or Google Workspace tools.
• Proficiency in Practical Problem Solving.

Physical Requirements

• Onsite: 100% onsite work.
• Vision: Daily ability to see/read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
• Hearing: Daily ability to participate in conversations (in-person, teleconference, phone) and hear production floor sounds, including safety warnings/alarms.
• Speaking: Daily ability to speak in conversations, meetings, and communications.
• Equipment Operation: Ability to operate office equipment (computers, phones, copiers) and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
• Carrying: Weekly ability to carry documents, tools, drawings, or electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
• Lifting: Weekly ability to lift documents, tools, drawings, or electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
• Pushing/Pulling: Weekly ability to push/pull small office furniture, equipment, or tools.
• Sitting: Daily ability to sit for long periods (e.g., meetings, computer work).
• Squatting/Kneeling: Weekly ability to squat/kneel to retrieve/replace items on low shelving.
• Standing: Daily ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
• Travel: 5% ability to travel independently and at short notice.
• Walking: Daily ability to walk extensively through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, bump caps, and/or protective gloves as required by site or customer site.
• Safety glasses, bump caps, and safety-toed shoes must be worn when on the manufacturing floor.
