About The Role
This company is a global technology leader in its segment of the chemical manufacturing industry. The Process Engineer provides technical service to an assigned process unit, monitoring daily operations and identifying opportunities to improve quality, reduce costs, enhance safety, and lower emissions. This role is responsible for the technical and economic aspects of process unit operations, working closely with the unit team to develop and evaluate proposed operating changes, prepare annual control budgets, and support regulatory programs including PSM and RMP.
Responsibilities
- Develop and conduct tests to evaluate proposed operating changes aimed at improving product quality, increasing production capacity, or reducing operating costs.
- Investigate the operating and economic feasibility of new technology, safety improvements, and planned capacity changes.
- Provide technical support for maintenance of existing equipment.
- Design and document chemical processes for new product development.
- Select equipment required for scale up from development to production.
- Write procedures and train staff on the safe operation of new equipment.
- Select control devices to enhance process control.
- Lead selected projects including planning, coordination, and progress reporting, with supervision of technicians as needed.
- Coordinate between engineering and production to maximize equipment uptime and product quality in a safe, environmentally sound manner.
- Work to reduce maintenance, material, and repair costs against budget.
- Troubleshoot and design improvements to optimize plant operations.
- Collaborate with outside contractors on installation of new equipment.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of the chemical, physical, and safe handling properties of materials used in the assigned area.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Chemical process experience in manufacturing, petrochemicals, or a related industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 or more years of experience as a Process Engineer in a chemical or petroleum manufacturing environment.
Schedule
Full time, on site. Shifts may run up to 12 hours, with physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs multiple times per shift, and working in a plant environment.
Pay
$86,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on experience, plus a sign-on bonus and annual bonus potential of 8 to 12%.
