Probation Supervisor

Together our courts and probation departments are committed to impartial and timely dispute resolution; support for families, litigants, and victims; client rehabilitation; and meaningful community engagement.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Provides supervision, oversight, support, mentorship, and training for probation staff. Assists in forming, communicating, and implementing procedures and policies. Monitors caseload progress and performs case reviews and other methods of quality assurance.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees (1 or more full-time employees) including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. The work performed by majority of employees is complex. Human Collaboration Interactions may result in decisions regarding implementation of policies. Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues or important presentations. Contacts may involve stressful, negative interactions with the public requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions.
Essential Functions
- Supervises the work of assigned employees including interviewing, hiring, and training, planning and directing work, conducting performance evaluations, coaching employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Collaborates with the court, community stakeholders, partners, and other agencies.
- Attends and/or facilitates meetings and serves on local and state level committees to develop and implement programming.
- Performs administrative functions including reviewing and approving time sheets and PTO and ensuring compliance with Fair Labor Standards.
- Affords assistance in the development, implementation, and oversight of policies, procedures, and special programs for the Probation Department.
- Attends meetings and completes training as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Effort Requirements
Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
