Job Description
This position is Monday- Friday, no nights, no weekends.
- Demonstrates competence in performing abdominal/breast, ultrasound techniques and examinations according to established protocols.
- Assists with minor surgical procedures (i.e. cyst aspirations and biopsies).
- Modifies protocols to optimize each scan to best serve patients needs.
- Demonstrates skill and knowledge in use of all standard ultrasound equipment and a solid foundation in ultrasound theory.
- Consistently demonstrates technical proficiency in producing diagnostic breast scans abdominal, breast, images with the ability to recognize anatomical structures that are visualized.
- Produces high quality images; positions and transfers patients; selects proper technical factors; and selects and operates equipment as outlined in the departmental policy and procedure manual; refers to manual as necessary.
- Routinely prepares examinations for interpretation by the Radiologist to include correct identification, adequate clinical history, proper documentation of preliminary findings and previous sonograms for comparison.
- Demonstrates competency to provide preliminary assessment and to provide preliminary analyses.
- Proficiently identifies breast pathology on all ultrasound exams.
- Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
- Participate in various teaching and mentoring of ultrasound students.
- Able to perform imaging on all age groups.
- Consults with the physician as applicable regarding the quality of images and data obtained.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Licensure / Certification / Registration: Credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
