PRN Registered Nurse Nightshift

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive patient care on a nursing unit under supervision, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans. Responsibilities include supervising non-RN staff and functioning as a charge nurse when needed.

Responsibilities

• Continuously assessing patients' physical and psychosocial conditions
• Developing, communicating, and documenting care plans involving patients and the healthcare team
• Evaluating care effectiveness, patient responses, and discharge readiness
• Providing education and making referrals as necessary
• Demonstrating competency in neuro patient care, assessments, airway management, and specialized procedures
• Performing suctioning and caring for patients with Halo braces or on ventilators
• Performing other duties to ensure smooth departmental operations

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and internet research
• At least one year of acute nursing experience, preferably in critical or emergency care
• Valid Connecticut RN license required
