About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to reproduce high-volume, priority copies on a deadline basis. This position involves maintaining print production equipment, operating digital press equipment, and performing various bindery functions with specialized equipment. The role operates under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and deliver high-volume scheduled and on-demand print projects.
  • Receive and analyze print production work orders for size, complexity, and finishing requirements to meet deadlines.
  • Consult with leadership on production schedules and make necessary adjustments.
  • Electronically access and run print-ready files, utilizing appropriate materials and equipment.
  • Provide print layout support using print imposition technology to optimize production.
  • Ensure quality standards are met during all stages of work.
  • Identify and correct errors, escalating recurring issues to management.
  • Validate packaging of finished projects and ensure accuracy of supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and perform routine maintenance on printer and bindery equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems, completing minor repairs as needed.
  • Serve as a mentor and technical resource to team members.
  • Operate material handling equipment and other non-bindery equipment.

Requirements

  • Experience operating and maintaining various bindery equipment is required.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of printing-related bindery functions.
  • Ability to interpret printing specifications and implement verbal directions.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and set priorities.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Suite, and associated programs.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Exposure to operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining a digital printer-copier press, large format printer, laminator, and various finishing equipment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various grades and weights of paper, vinyl, and other print materials is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and understand client printing specifications, requirements, and expectations is preferred.
  • Software skills including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign are preferred.

Work Environment

The employee will be operating in a warehouse environment with exposure to loud machinery. This position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds.
