Principal Technical Trainer - SME

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Technical Trainer - Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Stock Control System (SCS) with extensive knowledge and expertise covering both the existing Mainframe and modernized Cloud Environment. The candidate will be part of the broader PMO team consisting of Government personnel, SME Team, developer/sustainer/system integrator, and other support contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team of SMEs assigned to the support of the Stock Control System mainframe and cloud environments.
• Act as the lead technical integrator in the effort to move the Stock Control System to the Cloud.
• Serve as the central point of contact for the Stock Control System for all code conversion activities for the Cloud, in addition to continuing support of the current mainframe environment.
• Train the SCS QT&E (Qualitative Test and Evaluation) SME team on the detailed inner workings of both the current mainframe environment and the newly modernized Cloud environment.
• Interact with the SCS SME team and the support contractor to assist with ongoing production support of SCS, including verifying maintenance and enhancements for both mainframe and cloud versions of the JAVA-based system software.
• Communicate with SCS SME Team members to assist with QT&E testing and documentation of test completion.
• Review JAVA, JavaScript, and PYTHON code for software and test peer reviews, and train other SME team members to perform these reviews proficiently.
• Conduct cross-training and knowledge transfer with existing SME team members to attain senior-level competence with SCS in preparation for future staff attrition.
• Respond to Program Manager requests for analysis of system transactions and processing rejects, and train existing SME team members to perform these tasks.
• Lead the development of new user training materials for the modernized SCS system when it reaches the Cloud.
• Train SCS SME Team members to research and resolve site issues reported by production site users, in collaboration with sustainment contractor personnel, including writing problem reports in the JIRA/Confluence toolset.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Successfully complete a T1 Public Trust background check or higher.
• Support both the original mainframe version of the Stock Control System and the new Cloud-based version during the transition process.
• Train other SME team members to review and understand application source code written in JAVA, JavaScript, PYTHON, and SQL.
• Detailed working knowledge of USAF Logistics Systems, specifically the Stock Control System (SCS/D035).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with customers and other delivery teams involved in problem resolution.
• Ability to drive results in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to work in a high-stress and changing environment.
• Experience with Business and Enterprise System (BES) Directorate’s lifecycle management processes in an agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in Java and Oracle Developer.
• Proficient in PL/SQL.
• Proficient in COBOL, IDEAL, C++, and JCL.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Access.
• Working knowledge of JIRA/Confluence.
• Agile trained and/or certified.
