Principal Product Designer, Partner Experience
About the role
BetterUp is looking for a Principal Product Designer (P6) to own the design vision for Partner Experience — the B2B layer through which enterprise HR leaders, program administrators, and organizational decision-makers interact with BetterUp.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design vision for Partner Hub, Performance Intelligence, and analytics and reporting surfaces
- Shape how HR executives and administrators make sense of complex organizational data, translating behavioral and performance signals into experiences that drive insight, trust, and action
- Lead 0→1 design work on ambiguous, high-stakes problems, bringing a strong point of view to challenges that don't yet have obvious solutions
- Work directly with Product, Engineering, Research, and People Science from the earliest stages, influencing problem framing and roadmap priorities
- Build and maintain foundational design patterns for enterprise B2B surfaces that enable speed and consistency as the product grows
- Actively contribute to BetterUp's design culture, participating in cross-pod critiques and serving as the connective voice between the member experience and the partner data story it generates
Requirements
- 10+ years of product design experience, with sustained time at a consumer or B2B SaaS company where design played a central role in product strategy
- A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional visual craft, systems-level thinking, and the ability to operate across the full design spectrum—from early concept to polished execution—with portfolio evidence of taste, not just process
- Deep expertise designing enterprise B2B surfaces: complex administrative workflows, data-dense dashboards, multi-role permission models, and B2B-to-B2C two-sided interactions
- Proven track record of leading complex, multi-year design initiatives with measurable impact on product outcomes and user experience at an organizational level
- Demonstrated ability to influence product and engineering direction at the VP and executive level—earning trust through clarity, craft, and strategic judgment
- Strong design systems sensibility: you understand how foundational decisions compound across a product at scale, and you’ve built or meaningfully shaped systems that teams rely on
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills—you make complex ideas clear and compelling to any audience
- Experience designing products at the intersection of human behavior and technology; familiarity with AI-native product patterns is a strong plus
Qualifications
- Visual design taste and craft are the foundation of this role. This is not a soft skill—it is the core of what it means to be a Principal Designer at BetterUp. Your portfolio must demonstrate it.
- Experience designing for coaching, HR tech, behavioral health, or human development platforms
- Familiarity with enterprise buyer and administrator workflows in B2B SaaS—including analytics, reporting, and account management experiences
- Experience with two-sided marketplace or platform design spanning B2B and B2C surfaces
- Background integrating AI capabilities into product experiences, particularly in analytics or personalization contexts
