Principal Fluid Systems Engineer

About the role

At Westinghouse, we are seeking a Principal Fluid Systems Engineer to join our innovative team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining various fluid systems within our nuclear power plants. The ideal candidate will be involved in both existing plant upgrades and the development of new reactor technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop pump, valve, heat exchanger, HVAC, or other equipment sizing requirements for plant design or modifications.
• Perform steady-state and dynamic fluid network analyses.
• Identify problems and propose solutions to projects and tasks that are assigned.
• Mentor and guide engineering personnel in various design and analysis efforts.
• Lead small teams (3-5 people) on projects.
• Communicate the nature and status of work performed to appropriate technical leads and management.
• Collaborate with construction, instrumentation and control (I&C), electrical, and operations project teams with internal and/or external representation.
• Participate in customer, vendor, and regulatory meetings to present technical materials and justify services and product designs.
• Perform work within established scope, budgetary, and schedule requirements.
• Identify opportunities for improvement within the group and department, and lead the efforts necessary to implement the determined changes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering: Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear.
• Minimum 8 years of applicable experience.
• Experience with MathCad, MATLAB, or VBA.
• Familiarity with testing and testing analysis.
• Experience with ASME or API standards.
• Engineer in Training Certification or Professional Engineer License.

Pay

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200 to $129,000 per year.

Schedule

This position is hybrid, requiring 2 days/week on-site at the Westinghouse Global Headquarters facility in Cranberry Township, PA in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
