Principal Engineer - Hydraulic Systems
About the role
Canrig Drilling Technology is seeking an experienced engineer to develop hydraulic systems for drilling rig equipment in the oil and gas industry. The role is for an individual contributor.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage engineering design for existing products and new product development
- Provide construction and test oversight of products, including hydraulic circuits/systems
- Offer technical support to manufacturing, internal and external customers, and Rig Operations, including on-site troubleshooting and equipment repair activities
- Review research, analyses, internal and supplier specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
- Evaluate product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications; provide recommendations to engineering leadership
- Maintain current knowledge of new drilling equipment and practices
- Participate as the hydraulic expert in the development and design of rig drilling equipment
- Perform detailed engineering analysis and equipment calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Coverage work scope with sub-contractors and oversee their progress and quality
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in hydraulic circuit/systems engineering design and development, with successful deployment
- 8+ years of experience as an engineer in a drilling equipment OEM
- Professional certification in Fluid Power Engineering by IFPS
- Proficient knowledge of equipment, drilling systems, and components
- Proficient understanding of API, ASME, and other relevant standards related to hydraulic systems
- Proficient experience with drafting software like AutoCAD and Solidworks
- Proficient in hydraulic modeling tools such as Automation Studio
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering, specifically Mechanical/Structural
