Prime Air Area Manager, Amazon Prime Air
About the role
Prime Air is redefining last-mile delivery through drone technology. Our team of engineers, operators, and innovators is building a system to deliver packages to customers in under an hour—safely, reliably, and at scale. We are seeking a front-line leader to execute daily operations at a Prime Air Drone Delivery Station.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and support teams across flight operations, ground handling, and fulfillment to ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused delivery performance
- Drive key operational metrics including safety, quality, and delivery efficiency
- Monitor real-time operations to remove barriers and maintain system uptime
- Partner with Operations Managers and cross-functional teams to execute staffing and operational plans
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Develop and coach associates
- Provide clear escalation and communication during active operations
- Directly manage a team of hourly associates, overseeing scheduling, performance management, and day-to-day coaching and development
- In partnership with HR, address associate relations matters including attendance, performance concerns, and corrective action as needed
- Maintain accurate timekeeping, headcount tracking, and staffing records for your team
This role may require travel, up to 25% of the time.
Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
Basic qualifications
- 1+ years of direct people management, including performance management and employee development experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon experience
- Experience in a fast-paced, automated, industrial, logistics, production or manufacturing environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Ability to carry/lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach
- Ability to work in an environment where the noise level varies and is subject to variable temperatures and weather conditions, including working outside in outdoor temperatures and refrigerated environments
- Demonstrated record of good attendance and the ability to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts
- Ability to analyze performance metrics and take action to improve results
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience in the drone/aerospace industry
- Experience working cross-functionally with technical and support teams
Pay
Base salary range: $73,500.00 - $128,500.00 USD annually (USA, NE, Omaha). Compensation package includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
